Last fall, I had the opportunity to take a two-week trip around Europe. I love Europe and after completing law school, I became so busy that I never had the time or opportunity to get back. Eventually COVID hit and everything was shut down. Finally the time came!

I like staying in Central London in the thick of things. There is so much to do in Central London from typical tourist stops to dining and theatre. Public transport is unbelievable and a car is unnecessary if you’ll just be in London. If you’re planning on using public transport whilst in London, I recommend you get an Visitor’s Oyster Card. An Oyster Card allows you to save money with reduced fares. You can purchase an Oyster Card in advance of your trip and have it topped up as well. I decided to stay in Kensington at an AirBNB. The flat was extremely convenient to the Gloucester Road – that’s Gluss-tur for Americans – Underground station. There was also a Sainsbury’s nearby so I could stock up the kitchen.

Top 3 British Government and Landmarks:

  1. UK Parliament – The British parliament convenes at Westminster in Central London. There are scheduled tours, which I highly recommend. (https://www.parliament.uk/visiting/)
  2. Tower Bridge – UK-neophytes often think this bridge is called London Bridge, which is nearby closer to parliament – and very NOT interesting.  https://www.towerbridge.org.uk
  3. Westminster Abbey – Stop by Westminster Abbey while visiting parliament and see where King Charles was coronated! Did you know that over three thousand people have been buried at Westminster Abbey? (https://www.westminster-abbey.org)

Top 3 Areas to Check out in London:

  1. Leicester Square – This area has a number of London’s top theatres. This is definitely a stop to check out if you’re a fan of the screen or stage. (https://leicestersquare.london)
  2. Covent Garden – Covent Garden is a terrific stop for food. London gets a reputation for being a Fish & Chips hub but the real secret is curry. Whilst in London, make sure you sample some of the glorious ethnic food. I definitely recommend sampling the Indian food. If you’d like to save a little money, I recommend checking out the pre-theatre dinner menus. These are fixed prices for terrific meals earlier in the evening. There is even a Gordon Ramsey burger restaurant! (https://www.coventgarden.london)
  3. Piccadilly Circus – This is London’s version of Times Square. Stop by and be dazzled with all of the lights and displays! (https://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/place/77552-piccadilly-circus)

During my stay, I was able to take side trips to Bristol, the Haag, and Istanbul. I can’t wait to share more photographs.
